Scrapbook of news clippings, articles, and prints of Frederic Remington's paintings of Indian scenes, 1905-1929; a second scrapbook contains same type of material for artist Charles M. Russell, 1922-1930, with his correspondence, 1918-1920. A third scrapbook holds news clippings, dated 1913-1929, about Custer's last stand at the Battle of Little Big Horn, Montana on June 25, 1876. Also, three volumes concerning L.A. Huffmann (photographer and artist who depicted scenes from Custer's last stand and frontier activities, including one volume of hand-colored photographs and prints made by Huffmann of scenes of Montana, 1877-1886; an album of Huffmann's photographs depicting frontier scenes, Cheyenne Indians, and herds of animals in Montana and elsewhere, n.d.; and a scrapbook of news clippings and postcards about Huffmann, as well as events in Miles City, Montana, 1884-1929.

Frederic Remington was born October 4, 1861 in Canton, New York. He was educated at the Vermont Episcopal Institute and attended Yale University. He worked as a cowboy, scout, and ran a sheep and mule ranch in the west. He married Eva Caten on October 1, 1884.
